The Day After
Back at work today. Hobbled a bit into work, 26.2 miles always makes my legs feel stiff.
The race was a great surprise for me, in that I have been injured, and in the 2 prior marathons, I have had to walk and run the last 10 miles in order to not cause any major damage.
Luckily my wife, Jacqui is a physio and between her and John McCordic at the North Shore Physiotherapy Clinic, they have managed to improve my injury. As a result I was able to run the entire marathon.
Whenever I have been injured before I have always rested and performed the rehab necessary to correct the problem. However, this time I do not have the luxury, so through change made in my exercise routine, rehabilitation, and working on the root of the injury, through advice obtained from my physios I was able to complete the marathon as a runner and not an injured runner.
So thank you Physios. I still have much rehab to do, and I am sure you will keep me on track.
